“Do-It-Yourself” polishing procedures:

  • A variable speed polishing tool is required, as a Single speed polishing tool is not suitable to carry out marble polishing powder. A Single speed is too fast and will spin the polishing powder off the marble surface.
  • Adjust the tool to its slowest speed(speed number 1).
  • Attach the red pad to the pad holder.
  • Put 2 teaspoonfuls of 105 marble polishing powder onto the etched area.
  • Spread out the powder within circumference of the red pad. Do not put powder at area where you are not ready to polish. Polish a small area at any one time, approx. 1.0 sq.ft. (300mm x 300mm). Put a few pieces of cloth surround the polishing area to prevent the marble powder’s slurry from splashing out far. Do not polish too near to the cloth as you may coil the cloth. Move the tool one palm size distance away from the cloth. Do not panic if you coil the cloth. Just stop the tool, uncoil the cloth and continue polishing again.
  • Place the tool & red pad on top of the powder.
  • Do not spray water to the powder. Spray a small amount of water beside the powder.
  • Begin the polishing. The powder will become a slurry when polishing.
  • Exert some strength to your polishing.
  • Polish between 2 to 5 minutes. If slurry dry up and shine is not obtained yet, press only one spray (a small amount) of water to the marble surface and continue polishing.
  • Do not spray too much water. Too much water will make slurry become a watery liquid and this watery liquid will easily splash far out to other part of the marble. This may damage other part of the marble if it is left unattended longer than 5minutes. If watery slurry has splashed far out to other part of the marble, immediately wipe away with a damp cloth.
  • Do not polish 105 powder to 100% dry. 105 is unlike 79 & 106 powder.
  • When shine is achieved, spray down the ready-to-use Stonemist(pH7.0) to neutralize the powder residues and wipe with a damp cloth.
  • Put a small pail of water beside you. Rinse the cloth in the pail of water. Wriggle the cloth and wipe the marble surface again.
  • Dry the marble surface with a dry cloth. You may use a hair dryer to speed up drying the marble surface. Check the result.
  • If the result is not satisfactory, repeat the above polishing steps. 2nd attempt of polishing required to put new powder.

Severe etched mark and scratches required diamond cutting with grit#400 & #800 prior to use marble polishing powder. It is advisable to engage the Professional for etched mark and dull area bigger than 30 sq.ft. You may enquire our service.

To remove soap scum on marble surface at shower area: Begin diamond polishing at grit#200(if needed) for severely etched area. After grit #200, follow-by grit#400 and final polished with marble polishing powder. Otherwise, you may start polishing at grit#400 and follow by polishing with 105marble powder (only 2 steps of polishing). Omit grit#800 at shower area to prevent slipperiness.
